The East Sussex 'Drop In' Dementia Cafe

What is the East Sussex Dementia Café?

The East Sussex Dementia Café is a free drop-in initiative where families and carers of people living with dementia can visit for advice and signposting to the services that you need most.

There are currently two locations;

Held every last Monday as part of the 'Young at Heart Coffee Morning', at The Hellingly Hub - 10am-12pm

Held every Thursday at The Ivy Dementia Centre, Gardner Street, Herstmonceux, BN27 4RS - 10am-12pm & 2pm-4pm

Why do we need a Dementia Café?

Having worked with many, many people seeking help for loved ones diagnosed with dementia over the years, the team at Ivy House wanted to create a space where people could access the help and support they need to cope with living with dementia.

Our vision for the café is to create an opportunity for people to talk with qualified and experienced professionals without having to make an appointment. The East Sussex Dementia Café is a safe and relaxed environment that is easy to access, and you’ll always be greeted by a friendly face.

How is it funded?

Ivy House is the grateful recipient of bequests and we reinvest this money into community initiatives to support families living with dementia. The East Sussex Dementia Café is just one of the projects we are investing in. To find out more visit the Facebook page.

"Another great idea from Jane and the team at Ivy House.Taking the support out into the community for those living with dementia is so helpful.

The opportunity to chat and share ideas in a relaxed environment is very re assuring and you will always receive a warm welcome. It’s just what Eastbourne needs". X
